What Changed

Effective July 7, 2026, the EU's updated General Safety Regulation (GSR II) strictly prohibits the registration of new vehicles without integrated Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW) and Driver Availability Monitoring Systems. Additionally, updated 2026 Euro NCAP protocols penalize partially automated (L2/L2+) vehicles unless they integrate robust eye-gaze and fatigue monitoring. This forces OEMs to integrate compliant Driver Monitoring Systems into production.
