Agricultural Drones Market 2025 to 2032: Labour Scarcity, Sensor Edge and the Tariff-Certification Squeeze →
What Changed

Effective September 3, 2026, a presidential Section 232 proclamation imposed new U.S. import tariffs on unmanned aircraft systems. Drones with a maximum takeoff weight over 25 kg (55 lbs)—which includes almost all commercial agricultural spray drones—as well as drones with thermal cameras and docking stations, now face a 100% ad valorem tariff. Smaller drones under 25 kg face a 25% duty, while an additional 25% component duty takes effect February 9, 2027.

Recommended Actions 1

Audit fleet timelines and source domestic or allied-nation hardware

With heavy foreign spray drones doubling in landed cost, procurement must accelerate pre-orders of US-built alternatives or shift to allied suppliers subject to lower capped tariff rates.
