Urea Price in China Rises 5.1% to USD 268.22/tonne
Chinese urea prices rose to USD 268.22/tonne on 2026-09-07, up over the week and month but roughly flat on the quarter.
Urea prices in China stood at USD 268.22/tonne as of 2026-09-07, an increase of 5.1% from USD 255.22/tonne a week earlier on 2026-08-31. The price is up 3.3% from USD 259.54/tonne on 2026-08-07, while over the quarter it has gained just 0.2% from USD 267.66/tonne on 2026-06-09. On a yearly basis, the price is 12.4% higher than the USD 238.70/tonne recorded on 2025-09-05.
Over the past 52 weeks, urea reached a high of USD 275.98/tonne on 2026-04-16 and a low of USD 220.48/tonne on 2025-10-13.
Supply-side data point to high availability. Total urea enterprise inventory reached a record historical high of 1.6661 million tonnes, according to FDD Global on 2026-08-10. Claight market monitoring shows national daily urea output reached approximately 206,000 tons on August 18, reflecting an 81.45 percent industry operating rate.
On the trade side, Mysteel reported on 2026-08-21 that China urea exports rebounded in July to 403,438 tonnes, a month-on-month increase of 5,560.91 percent. Separately, Fertilizer Daily reported on 2026-08-14 that urea prices declined to 386 USD per metric ton on August 11 following an easing of geopolitical risk in the Strait of Hormuz.
