Sulfur Price in China Falls 1.3% to USD 1,287/tonne

Sulfur in China was quoted at USD 1,287/tonne as of 2026-09-04, a fall of 1.3% from USD 1,305/tonne on 2026-08-28. The price is down 5.2% over the month from USD 1,358/tonne on 2026-08-05. Over the quarter it has risen 8.4% from USD 1,187/tonne on 2026-06-05, and over the year it is up 245.0% from USD 373.12/tonne on 2025-09-04.

The 52-week high stands at USD 1,640/tonne, reached on 2026-06-15. The 52-week low of USD 368.93/tonne was recorded on 2025-10-09.

According to Claight market monitoring, China's Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs suspended all ordinary industrial sulfuric acid exports from May 1 to December 31, 2026.

Restrictions have also been imposed by several producing countries. India officially imposed a comprehensive ban on all sulfur exports nationwide on July 16, 2026, as reported by ChemNet. Kazakhstan issued Order No. 1363, imposing a complete halt on sulfur exports effective June 27, 2026, until further notice, according to Shanghai Metals Market. The same source reported that the Russian government signed a decree extending the ban on industrial sulfur exports through December 31, 2026.
