Steel Rebar Price in India Eases 0.4% to USD 475.18/tonne
Indian rebar prices pulled back slightly on the week but remain up 8.7% over the month amid producer price increases and tighter spot availability.
Steel rebar in India was priced at USD 475.18/tonne as of 2026-09-04, down 0.4% from USD 477.01/tonne on 2026-08-28. The monthly change stands at +8.7%, from USD 437.33/tonne on 2026-08-05. The 52-week high of USD 487.35/tonne was recorded on 2026-09-03 and the 52-week low of USD 421.06/tonne on 2026-08-07.
According to BigMint, primary producers increased August rebar list prices by INR 1,000-2,000/t to support market recovery. BigMint also reported that integrated steel plants initiated scheduled maintenance shutdowns in August, tightening spot availability. Mysteel reported that leading Indian steelmakers raised rebar list prices by INR 1,750/t for September deliveries.
On the demand side, The Hindu BusinessLine reported that domestic infrastructure demand grew, with finished steel consumption rising 8% during April-July. The same source noted that coking coal prices rose approximately 5% from Q1 levels, increasing blast furnace production costs.
Prices have moved within a range of USD 421.06/tonne to USD 487.35/tonne over the past 52 weeks.
