Stainless Steel Price in China Dips 0.2% to USD 2,103/tonne

Stainless steel in China slipped to USD 2,103/tonne on 2026-09-29, leaving the quarterly decline at 3.8% while the annual gain stands at 14.7%.

Stainless steel in China was quoted at USD 2,103/tonne on 2026-09-29, down 0.2% from USD 2,107/tonne a week earlier. Over the month the price has fallen 2.7% from USD 2,162/tonne on 2026-08-28, and over the quarter it is down 3.8% from USD 2,188/tonne on 2026-07-01. On the year it remains 14.7% higher than USD 1,833/tonne on 2025-09-29. The 52-week high is USD 2,264/tonne on 2026-05-07 and the 52-week low is USD 1,760/tonne on 2025-11-24.

According to the General Administration of Customs on 2026-09-20, China's stainless steel exports rose 13.9% month-on-month in August due to recovering overseas demand.

On the cost side, Mysteel reported on 2026-09-22 that major Chinese stainless steel mills lowered October procurement prices for high-carbon ferrochrome by 200 yuan per tonne. Shanghai Metals Market reported on 2026-09-30 that China's high-carbon ferrochrome output fell 3.17% month-on-month in September because of cost inversion and plant maintenance.
