The monthly change stands at +5.7% from USD 2,358,150/tonne on 2026-08-05, while the quarter shows -7.9% from USD 2,708,054/tonne on 2026-06-05. Over the year, the price has risen 78.1% from USD 1,399,733/tonne on 2025-09-04. The 52-week high of USD 4,133,952/tonne was set on 2026-01-29, and the 52-week low of USD 1,396,533/tonne on 2025-09-05.
Trade policy has shaped supply conditions. According to The Economic Times on 2026-05-17, India restricted silver imports by moving them to a restricted category and mandating government authorization. On 2026-06-02, the same source reported that India raised import duties on silver from 6% to 15% to conserve foreign exchange reserves and expanded import licensing requirements to include silver grain and powder.
Imports have since resumed. The Free Press Journal reported on 2026-08-17 that India's silver imports restarted in August, with 89.81 tonnes entering via the India International Bullion Exchange.
