Silicone Price in China Rises 38.4% YoY to USD 2,148/tonne
Silicone prices in China held near recent highs at USD 2,148/tonne, up 6.9% on the month but down 0.7% over the week.
Silicone in China was quoted at USD 2,148/tonne on 2026-09-29, down 0.7% from USD 2,164/tonne on 2026-09-22. The monthly change stood at +6.9%, from USD 2,009/tonne on 2026-08-28, while the quarter change was -0.7% from USD 2,164/tonne on 2026-07-01. Year on year the price is up 38.4% from USD 1,552/tonne on 2025-09-29.
The 52-week high of USD 2,196/tonne was recorded on 2026-09-21, and the 52-week low of USD 1,551/tonne on 2025-10-10.
According to Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), coordinated industry production cuts and maintenance at monomer plants constrained supply throughout the last 90 days. SMM also reported that silicone monomer producers maintained firm price-holding sentiment due to low inventory levels and ample order backlogs.
SMM noted that rising costs for raw materials, specifically silicon metal and methyl chloride, provided consistent support for silicone prices. On the trade side, SMM reported that China's exports of primary-form polysiloxane increased by 5.25% month-on-month in August 2026. Separately, Sellsilicon.com reported that China eliminated the 13% value-added tax export rebate for primary condensation silicone polymers effective April 1, 2026.
