Rebar Price in China Rises 1.0% to USD 477.29/tonne
Chinese rebar edged up to USD 477.29/tonne as production fell and inventories tightened ahead of the holiday.
Rebar in China was quoted at USD 477.29/tonne as of 2026-10-01, up 1.0% from USD 472.77/tonne on 2026-09-24. The price rose 1.4% over the month from USD 470.90/tonne on 2026-09-01 and 4.5% over the quarter from USD 456.69/tonne on 2026-07-03. Compared with 2025-10-01, the price is up 7.2% from USD 445.04/tonne. The 52-week high stands at USD 485.39/tonne on 2026-05-12 and the 52-week low at USD 436.77/tonne on 2025-10-14.
Supply conditions have tightened. Mysteel reported that weekly rebar production dropped 5% to 1.65 million tonnes during September 17-23, the lowest level this year. SMM reported that total rebar inventory fell 6.84% to 5.92 million tonnes for the week ending September 24.
On the demand side, Promisteel reported that apparent rebar demand rose 10.15% for the week ending September 25 due to pre-holiday project restocking. Promisteel also reported that the Baltic Dry Index rose 1.66% to 3,426 points for the week ending September 25, increasing bulk freight costs.
