Purified Terephthalic Acid Price in China Hits USD 1,093/tonne

Purified terephthalic acid in China was quoted at USD 1,093/tonne as of 2026-10-02, a gain of 2.6% from USD 1,065/tonne on 2026-09-25. Over the month the price has risen 12.8% from USD 969.01/tonne on 2026-09-02, and over the quarter it has climbed 30.1% from USD 839.99/tonne on 2026-07-03. Year on year, the price is up 69.3% from USD 645.41/tonne on 2025-10-02. The 52-week high stands at USD 1,098/tonne on 2026-09-17, with the 52-week low at USD 612.52/tonne on 2025-10-20.

Supply conditions have shifted through the quarter. According to OPIS, multiple Chinese purified terephthalic acid plants, including Jiaxing Petrochemical and Zhejiang Dushan Energy, resumed operations in August after routine maintenance. OPIS also reported that Yisheng Dahua Petrochemical Co restarted its 2.25 million mt/year plant in Dalian on September 12 following a late August shutdown.

Claight market monitoring shows domestic operating rates fell to a yearly low of approximately 63% in mid-August because of simultaneous unit maintenance. Claight further reported that multiple units, including Hailun Petrochemical and Zhongtai Petrochemical, restarted and ramped up operating rates in mid-to-late September.
