Pulp on the Chinese market moved up to USD 723.30/tonne on 2026-09-04, extending gains over the week, month, quarter and year.

Pulp on the China market was quoted at USD 723.30/tonne as of 2026-09-04, a weekly rise of 1.5 percent from USD 712.41/tonne on 2026-08-28. Over the month the price gained 4.1 percent from USD 694.82/tonne on 2026-08-05. The quarter-on-quarter move was 1.0 percent from USD 716.27/tonne on 2026-06-05, and the year-on-year move was 2.2 percent from USD 707.49/tonne on 2025-09-04.

The 52-week high for pulp stands at USD 803.51/tonne, recorded on 2026-01-06. The 52-week low is USD 674.49/tonne, recorded on 2025-10-09.

On the inventory side, the Shanghai Futures Exchange reported that pulp warehouse inventory increased by 5,910 metric tons on September 2, according to Gate News. Warehouse stocks on the exchange are a reference point for physical availability in the Chinese market.

On the trade side, Claight market monitoring shows that China domestic pulp imports for July totaled 2.73 million tons, a 6.4 percent decrease month-on-month. Lower monthly import volumes and rising exchange warehouse stocks are the two supply-side data points recorded for the Chinese market in the period covered by this note. The latest quote of USD 723.30/tonne remains within the 52-week range set by the January high and the October low.
