Propylene glycol in China was priced at USD 1,478/tonne as of 2026-09-03, up 2.1% from USD 1,448/tonne on 2026-08-27. Over the month the price has risen 4.7% from USD 1,412/tonne on 2026-08-04, and over the quarter it has gained 2.4% from USD 1,444/tonne on 2026-06-05. Year on year, the increase stands at 66.4% from USD 888.66/tonne on 2025-09-03.
Claight market monitoring shows that average ex-factory prices in Shandong rose 5.04% in the second half of August, driven by a rebound in feedstock propylene oxide prices. The same monitoring records that domestic supply increased in late August as units undergoing maintenance restarted operations.
Earlier in the quarter, geopolitical tensions in mid-July lifted crude oil and feedstock propylene oxide prices by over 10%, which drove domestic price hikes, according to Claight market monitoring. Production rates dropped to 47% in mid-July because of unit maintenance, tightening spot market liquidity. At the same time, industrial-grade demand remained weak through the summer off-season, with downstream resin plant capacity utilization at only 33%.
The 52-week high stands at USD 1,738/tonne, recorded on 2026-04-10, while the 52-week low of USD 854.16/tonne was reached on 2026-01-28.
