PP Price in China Rises 3.1% to USD 1,417/tonne

Polypropylene in China reached USD 1,417/tonne on 2026-09-04, up 3.1% on the week and 4.4% on the month.

Polypropylene prices in China closed at USD 1,417/tonne on 2026-09-04, an increase of 3.1% from USD 1,374/tonne a week earlier. Over the month the price is up 4.4%, from USD 1,357/tonne on 2026-08-05. On the quarter the price remains down 4.0%, from USD 1,476/tonne on 2026-06-05. The year-on-year comparison stands at plus 39.4%, against USD 1,017/tonne on 2025-09-04.

The 52-week high of USD 1,493/tonne was set on 2026-04-08. The 52-week low of USD 931.17/tonne was recorded on 2026-01-07.

On the supply side, CCFGroup reported that PetroChina Dushanzi PC II started commercial production of a 450kt/year PP plant in August 2026. SCI99 reported that Zhongtian Hechuang Energy and Datang Duolun Coal Chemical scheduled maintenance shutdowns in the same month. Claight market monitoring shows that China industry operating load remained at approximately 69% throughout August 2026.

On logistics, ChemOrbis reported that intra-Asia freight rates rose in August 2026 due to regional shipping bottlenecks, a factor bearing on trade flows within the region.
