Supply-side maintenance and cost pressures lifted Chinese PVC prices across all reported timeframes.
Polyvinyl chloride in China was priced at USD 720.47/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 9.2% from USD 659.89/tonne a week earlier on 2026-08-28. Several sourced developments support the move. According to ChemNet on 2026-08-14, the Inner Mongolia Junzheng and Xinjiang Zhongtai PVC plants began maintenance cycles on August 10 and August 8 respectively, tightening short-term supply. Sina Finance reported on 2026-09-01 that domestic PVC industry capacity utilisation fell to 68.22% by August 28 owing to concentrated maintenance and industry-wide losses.
Hui Zheng News reported on 2026-09-04 that geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran pushed international oil prices higher, driving up ethylene-based PVC production costs. The same source stated that domestic power coal prices rose in late August, causing a spike in semi-coke and calcium carbide prices that increased carbide-based PVC costs. Hui Zheng News also noted that new real estate policies released in early September stimulated market sentiment and expectations for future PVC demand recovery.
Over the past 52 weeks, the commodity reached a high of USD 879.76/tonne on 2026-03-23 and a low of USD 606.51/tonne on 2025-12-22.
