Polyvinyl Chloride Price in China Rises 4.4% to USD 725.62/tonne

The polyvinyl chloride price in China stood at USD 725.62/tonne as of 2026-10-02, according to Claight market monitoring. The commodity rose 4.4% from USD 694.90/tonne on 2026-09-25 and gained 2.7% over the month from USD 706.68/tonne on 2026-09-02.

The quarter change stands at +13.0% from USD 642.19/tonne on 2026-07-03, and the year change at +12.2% from USD 646.95/tonne on 2025-10-02. Over the past 52 weeks the price reached a high of USD 879.76/tonne on 2026-03-23 and a low of USD 606.51/tonne on 2025-12-22.

Several developments support the recent move. The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and other departments issued a notice on August 28, 2026, to improve the commercial housing sales system, providing policy-driven sentiment support for PVC prices. Multiple PVC producers, including Zhenyang Development, initiated temporary production halts or maintenance in September 2026 due to severe cost-margin losses, contributing to a supply-side contraction.

Counterweights also exist. India initiated an anti-circumvention investigation into Chinese chlorinated polyvinyl chloride on September 16, 2026, following earlier anti-dumping measures, further constraining export growth from China. Coal futures experienced a regulatory crackdown around September 18, 2026, which reduced cost support for carbide-based PVC production.
