Polystyrene in China reached USD 1,530/tonne on 2026-09-03, up 3.0% on the week, as styrene supply tightened.

Polystyrene in China was priced at USD 1,530/tonne as of 2026-09-03, a weekly rise of 3.0% from USD 1,486/tonne on 2026-08-27. The monthly change stands at +5.5% from USD 1,451/tonne on 2026-08-04, while the quarterly change is +0.9% from USD 1,517/tonne on 2026-06-05. Over the year the price has moved +33.9%, from USD 1,143/tonne on 2025-09-03.

Claight market monitoring shows that Shandong Lihuayi began a 40-day maintenance shutdown of its styrene unit on 2026-08-31, and that Chinese styrene plant operating rates had declined to 63.55 percent. East China port styrene inventories fell to 55,300 tons from 74,800 tons over the week, according to Claight market monitoring.

Brent crude reached 95 dollars per barrel amid US-Iran tensions, as reported by Claight on 2026-09-04. Claight market monitoring also shows polystyrene export volumes rose 22.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2026.

The 52-week high for the commodity is USD 1,713/tonne on 2026-04-08, and the 52-week low is USD 1,051/tonne on 2025-11-11.
