Phthalic Anhydride Price in China Rises 0.4% to USD 1,494/tonne

Phthalic anhydride in China was quoted at USD 1,494/tonne as of 2026-09-30, up 0.4% from USD 1,488/tonne a week earlier. The price has risen 6.8% over the month from USD 1,399/tonne on 2026-08-31 and 29.0% over the quarter from USD 1,158/tonne on 2026-07-02. Year on year the price is up 69.0% from USD 883.95/tonne on 2025-09-30.

Claight market monitoring shows Sinopec raised its listed ortho-xylene price by 250 RMB/ton to 9,000 RMB/ton, strengthening cost support for phthalic anhydride. Claight market monitoring also shows multiple phthalic anhydride plants, including Zhongshan Liancheng and Jining Chenguang, halted operations for maintenance, tightening supply.

Further support came from industrial naphthalene, which per Claight market monitoring surged over 40% month-on-month by September 17 due to coal tar deep-processing maintenance and supply shortages.

According to ChemAnalyst, key phthalic anhydride production facilities concluded scheduled maintenance and resumed operations, increasing supply availability. The 52-week high stands at USD 1,528/tonne on 2026-09-18 and the 52-week low at USD 786.32/tonne on 2025-12-22.
