The quarterly decline in Chinese phosphoric acid prices has reached 25.7%, even as the year-on-year change stays positive at 24.3%.
Phosphoric acid in China was quoted at USD 1,238/tonne as of 2026-09-03, down 1.2% from USD 1,252/tonne on 2026-08-27. The monthly change stands at -4.5%, from USD 1,296/tonne on 2026-08-04. Over the quarter the price has fallen 25.7%, from USD 1,667/tonne on 2026-06-05. The year-on-year change remains positive at +24.3%, from USD 995.95/tonne on 2025-09-03. The 52-week high is USD 1,717/tonne, set on 2026-06-16, and the 52-week low is USD 931.41/tonne, recorded on 2025-10-27.
Several developments in China have shaped supply conditions. According to Shanghai Metals Market, Wengfu repriced wet-process phosphoric acid twice to 12,100 CNY/ton in June due to sulfur cost surges, and the Leibo-Yichang rail-water intermodal corridor opened for phosphate rock transport on June 24.
According to Fertilizer Daily, China extended phosphate fertilizer export restrictions through August 2026 to ensure domestic supply.
Benchmark Minerals reports that Tier 1 battery producers began including purified phosphoric acid in cathode price negotiation formulas due to supply deficits.
