The price is up 1.0% on the month from USD 1,403/tonne on 2026-08-31, up 2.9% on the quarter from USD 1,377/tonne on 2026-07-02 and up 3.9% on the year from USD 1,364/tonne on 2025-09-30.
The quote equals the 52-week high of USD 1,417/tonne set on 2026-09-29. The 52-week low stands at USD 1,353/tonne, recorded on 2025-10-22.
According to Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), large-scale production cuts at major silicon metal plants in Xinjiang were implemented in late August, reducing supply and strengthening price support. SMM also reported that rising prices for raw materials including silicon coal and electrodes, alongside increased freight costs, provided sustained cost support for silicon metal prices throughout September.
SMM noted that downstream users engaged in intensive pre-holiday stockpiling ahead of the National Day holiday, which accelerated inventory destocking and tightened spot liquidity in the Chinese market.
