Meta xylene prices in China reached USD 1,269/tonne as of 2026-09-29, a weekly gain of 2.1% from USD 1,243/tonne on 2026-09-22. The month change stands at 14.8%, up from USD 1,105/tonne on 2026-08-28.
The quarter change is 48.8%, measured from USD 852.30/tonne on 2026-07-01. Over the year to 2026-09-29, prices have risen 64.8% from USD 769.53/tonne on 2025-09-29. The 52-week high is USD 1,327/tonne, set on 2026-09-11, and the 52-week low is USD 735.27/tonne, recorded on 2025-10-22.
Claight market monitoring shows that crude oil and naphtha feedstock costs rose throughout August, establishing a higher cost floor for domestic xylene production. The same monitoring records that domestic xylene supply remained tight in August due to internal consumption by integrated refineries and limited sellable stock from independent refineries. Port inventories of xylene declined to low levels in August, reducing the market buffer and strengthening trader price retention.
Incheechem reports that scheduled maintenance at major aromatics production bases in East, Shandong, and South China reduced industry operating rates from July to August.
