Melamine Price in China Edges Up 0.6% to USD 922.75/tonne

Melamine in China rose 0.6% week-on-week to USD 922.75/tonne as of 2026-09-03, while weaker urea costs limited the gains.

Melamine prices in China stood at USD 922.75/tonne as of 2026-09-03, up 0.6% from USD 917.00/tonne a week earlier. The month change was -0.1%, with the price down from USD 923.59/tonne on 2026-08-04. Over the quarter the price rose 2.3% from USD 901.62/tonne, and over the year it gained 16.2% from USD 794.19/tonne.

Supply conditions improved during the period. According to ChemNet, Sichuan Meifeng fully resumed production at its Mianyang melamine facility following a month-long annual maintenance shutdown on 2026-08-19. YINSU Flame Retardant reported on 2026-08-17 that multiple Chinese production plants, including Shandong Helitai and Henan Junhua, resumed operations after maintenance, increasing industry capacity utilization. The same source noted that domestic melamine output increased 5.37% week-over-week during 2026-08-07 to 2026-08-13 as facilities returned from maintenance.

On the cost side, Claight market monitoring shows urea prices declined 3.13% between early August and 2026-08-18, weakening cost support for domestic melamine production.

Over the past 52 weeks the commodity reached a high of USD 1,417/tonne on 2026-04-08 and a low of USD 754.83/tonne on 2025-11-07.
