Maleic anhydride in China climbed to USD 1,469/tonne on 2026-09-30, its highest level in 52 weeks, after a month of sustained gains.
Maleic anhydride in China was quoted at USD 1,469/tonne as of 2026-09-30, up 2.1% from USD 1,439/tonne on 2026-09-23. Over the month the price rose 20.4% from USD 1,220/tonne on 2026-08-31, and the quarter change stands at 38.1% from USD 1,064/tonne on 2026-07-02. Year on year the price is up 91.9% from USD 765.49/tonne on 2025-09-30. The 52-week high is USD 1,469/tonne on 2026-09-29 and the 52-week low is USD 726.11/tonne on 2025-11-21.
Supply conditions have shaped the move. According to Claight market monitoring, domestic plants including Qingdao Refining & Chemical and Ningbo Jiangning shut down for maintenance, a development reported on 2026-06-24.
On 2026-07-24, SupplyStatus reported that major producers Zibo Qixiang Tengda and Huizhou Yuxin stopped publishing spot quotations to prioritise long-term contracts. Claight market monitoring also noted that geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East disrupted n-butane shipping and increased feedstock procurement costs, reported on 2026-04-02.
More recently, Claight market monitoring showed on 2026-09-04 that companies resumed shipments and restarted maintenance units, increasing spot supply and softening prices at that stage. The price has since moved to USD 1,469/tonne.
