Maleic Anhydride Price in China Edges Up 0.8% to USD 1,226/tonne
Weekly gain of 0.8% leaves Chinese maleic anhydride 56.1% higher than a year earlier, despite a 3.2% decline over the past month.
Maleic anhydride prices in China stood at USD 1,226/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 0.8% from USD 1,216/tonne on 2026-08-28. Over the past month the price has fallen 3.2% from USD 1,267/tonne on 2026-08-05, while the quarter shows a rise of 4.0% from USD 1,179/tonne on 2026-06-05. Compared with USD 784.93/tonne on 2025-09-04, the price is 56.1% higher year on year. The 52-week high of USD 1,295/tonne was reached on 2026-04-09 and the 52-week low of USD 726.11/tonne on 2025-11-21.
According to Claight market monitoring, domestic maleic anhydride prices rose 18.62% in July 2026 due to unit maintenance and integrated producers limiting spot sales.
ResourceWise reported that feedstock n-butane prices rebounded in mid-July 2026, driven by international geopolitical tensions and crude oil price increases.
On the supply side, Mysteel reported that Fujian Baihong Chemical ramped up commercial sales at its new 150,000-tonne-per-year plant in South China during Q3 2026. Claight market monitoring shows July 2026 imports of maleic anhydride totaled 79.461 tonnes, with cumulative imports reaching 233.115 tonnes for the year.
