LPG in China reached USD 1,034/tonne on 2026-09-04, a 52-week high, after gains across the week, month, quarter and year.

LPG in China closed at USD 1,034/tonne on 2026-09-04, up 10.9% from USD 931.80/tonne on 2026-08-28. The price is at a 52-week high; the low over the past year was USD 610.02/tonne on 2025-10-21. Over the month the price rose 14.2% from USD 905.56/tonne on 2026-08-05, over the quarter 19.7% from USD 863.56/tonne on 2026-06-05, and over the year 55.9% from USD 663.10/tonne on 2025-09-04.

Several developments explain the movement. Mysteel reported on 2026-08-11 that importers locked in lower-cost cargoes following successful US-Iran talks in June, causing a surge in arrivals from late July to August. Mysteel also reported on 2026-08-17 that China's LPG VLGC arrivals increased 102.42% in July due to the temporary reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and reduced import costs.

Gate News reported on 2026-08-25 that geopolitical tensions and Middle Eastern supply concerns drove China's LPG futures up 14.38% in August.
