Low Sulfur Fuel Oil Price in China Falls 5.2% to USD 769.93/tonne
Chinese low sulfur fuel oil eased over the week after a September run-up, with domestic supply constraints and refiner export suspensions shaping the market.
Low sulfur fuel oil in China was quoted at USD 769.93/tonne as of 2026-09-30, down 5.2% from USD 812.23/tonne on 2026-09-18. The weekly decline came after prices reached USD 845.82/tonne on 2026-09-16, the 52-week high.
Longer horizons show sustained gains. The price is up 8.6% over the month from USD 708.99/tonne on 2026-08-28, up 39.8% over the quarter from USD 550.89/tonne on 2026-07-02, and up 60.7% over the year from USD 479.24/tonne on 2025-09-30. The 52-week low stands at USD 409.09/tonne on 2026-01-07.
Supply conditions in China have tightened. According to the World Ports Organization, Chinese refiners produced 1.12 million tons of low-sulfur fuel oil in August, a 13% decline from July, and ships at Zhoushan face one to two-week refueling delays due to supply tightness.
Export policy has also shifted. Reuters reported that Chinese refiners suspended oil product exports for October to bolster domestic stocks. Claight market monitoring shows low-sulfur fuel oil ex-warehouse prices rose to 7,500-8,000 RMB/tonne by September 29.
