Liquefied Petroleum Gas Price in China Rises 13.6% to USD 973.19/tonne

Liquefied petroleum gas in China was quoted at USD 973.19/tonne as of 2026-09-04, a weekly rise of 13.6% from USD 856.88/tonne on 2026-08-28. The monthly change stands at 27.3% from USD 764.45/tonne on 2026-08-05, while the quarter change is 16.6% from USD 834.95/tonne on 2026-06-05. The year change is 59.1% from USD 611.70/tonne on 2025-09-04. The latest price is the 52-week high, recorded on 2026-09-04, against a 52-week low of USD 557.34/tonne on 2025-10-13.

Supply conditions have shaped the market. According to Mysteel, the Strait of Hormuz remained closed from July 12, 2026, disrupting Middle Eastern liquefied petroleum gas shipments to China. Mysteel also reported that China's liquefied petroleum gas VLGC arrivals surged 102.42% in July, owing to temporary regional shipping access and lower import costs.

On the futures side, Gate News reported that China's liquefied petroleum gas futures closed at an average of 5,853 yuan/ton in August, a 14.38% month-over-month increase. Mysteel further reported that Saudi Aramco notified Asian customers of a propane supply suspension for H1 2027, tightening global supply expectations.
