Isooctyl Alcohol Price in China Falls 1.3% to USD 1360/tonne
Isooctyl alcohol in China slipped week on week but remains well above levels from a year ago after supply disruptions and higher production costs.
Isooctyl alcohol in China was quoted at USD 1,360/tonne as of 2026-10-01, down 1.3% from USD 1,378/tonne on 2026-09-24. The price is up 3.5% over the month from USD 1,314/tonne on 2026-09-01, up 34.3% over the quarter from USD 1,013/tonne on 2026-07-03, and up 45.2% over the year from USD 936.38/tonne on 2025-10-01. The 52-week high stands at USD 1,476/tonne on 2026-09-16 and the 52-week low at USD 827.77/tonne on 2025-10-27.
Supply to the Chinese market tightened during the quarter. Shandong Lihuayi shut down its major isooctanol production unit for maintenance from August 17 to September 11, 2026, according to market reports [1]. Hualu Hengsheng scheduled a 20-day maintenance shutdown for its isooctanol unit starting September 8, 2026, providing price support [2].
Cost pressure also rose. Geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East caused crude oil and propylene prices to surge in early September 2026, increasing production costs [3]. The latest weekly move was lower even as the price remains above its level at the start of the quarter.
