Isooctyl alcohol in China reached USD 1,359/tonne on 2026-09-03, up 3.4% on the week and 18.2% on the month, as supply tightened and buyers restocked ahead of the peak season.
Isooctyl alcohol in China was quoted at USD 1,359/tonne as of 2026-09-03, a rise of 3.4% from USD 1,314/tonne on 2026-08-27. The monthly change stands at 18.2%, from USD 1,150/tonne on 2026-08-04, and the quarter change is 13.5%, from USD 1,197/tonne on 2026-06-05. Over the year to 2026-09-03, the price has risen 35.2% from USD 1,005/tonne on 2025-09-03.
According to Claight market monitoring, isooctanol industry operating rates dropped to 71 percent, tightening market spot supply. Claight market monitoring also shows that downstream manufacturers engaged in early restocking in August to prepare for the peak season.
Claight monitoring notes that geopolitical friction between the U.S. and Iran pushed crude oil and feedstock propylene prices higher, raising feedstock costs for the chain. Separately, ChemNet reported that Shandong Lihuayi shut down a major 140,000-ton octanol production unit for maintenance on August 17.
