On the supply side, ChemPriceHub reported that Zhangzhou Xiangcheng San'an Chemical Co. lowered its synthetic hydrochloric acid quotation by 30 yuan/ton on 2026-08-19. According to Claight market monitoring, chlor-alkali plants in China underwent maintenance during May and June 2026, which reduced chlorine output and supported hydrochloric acid prices. The same monitoring shows that China's steel sector activity was weak in May 2026, with crude steel production declining 2.7% year over year, limiting consumption for pickling and surface treatment.
Zirvede reported that hydrochloric acid prices in Northeast Asia rose 34.5% in July 2026 due to reduced by-product availability from chlor-alkali facilities and stronger industrial demand.
