The high-density polyethylene price in China stood at USD 1,562/tonne as of 2026-10-01, unchanged from USD 1,562/tonne on 2026-09-24. Over the month the price fell 2.6% from USD 1,605/tonne on 2026-09-01, while over the quarter it rose 8.0% from USD 1,447/tonne on 2026-07-03.

Year on year the price is up 40.6% from USD 1,111/tonne on 2025-10-01. The 52-week high is USD 1,655/tonne, recorded on 2026-09-10, and the 52-week low is USD 969.43/tonne, recorded on 2025-12-25.

According to Claight market monitoring, geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East drove up crude oil and ethylene costs in early September 2026. Claight market monitoring also shows domestic PE producer inventories fell by 10.44% month-on-month as of August 26, 2026.

On the supply side, ChemNet reported on 2026-09-02 that Zhejiang Petrochemical and Yulong Petrochemical delayed the restart of 900,000 tons of PE capacity. CNOOC-Shell said on 2026-09-18 that CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals suspended production at its Huizhou polyethylene plant.
