Two developments bear on the Indian market. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs hiked the gold import tariff value to $1,500 per 10 grams, announced on 2026-08-26. Policy measures have been in place since earlier in the year. The Government of India implemented a 15% effective import duty from 2026-05-13. The combination of the duty framework, the revised tariff value and seasonal demand forms the backdrop to the latest weekly movement, with the price change over the week standing at -1.9% and the change over the month standing at +7.5%.
