The year-on-year change stands at +36.3%, from USD 120,254,335/tonne on 2025-09-04. That date also marks the 52-week low, while the 52-week high of USD 191,584,607/tonne was recorded on 2026-01-29.
On the supply and policy side, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs increased the gold import tariff value to $1,500 per 10 grams on 2026-08-26. The Parliament of India reported that customs duty collected on precious metals reached Rs 10,463 crore between May 13 and August 2.
On the demand side, the World Gold Council reported on 2026-08-19 that jewellery demand and import volumes rebounded in July. The current quote remains below the 52-week high recorded in January.
