Reports indicate that manufacturers used price hikes in early September to stimulate sales and reduce high factory inventories, which drove a temporary spot price increase [1][2]. On September 10, the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation released an anti-involution notice, triggering a brief, one-day rally in futures prices [3].

Supply side developments also shaped the month. New production lines, including the Shanxi Qingchun second line and Tianjin Yaopi Line 1, ignited on September 9, offsetting capacity lost to cold repairs and keeping daily melting capacity near 142,000 tons [3][4].

Demand weakness has since weighed on quotes. Shahe and Shijiazhuang Yujing manufacturers lowered ex-factory spot prices by 20 yuan per ton on September 29 due to weak demand and renewed inventory accumulation [5].
