According to Jinchangsheng, concentrated maintenance at major acetic acid production facilities reduced supply and supported prices throughout July and August. Blooming Global reported that typhoon-related disruptions at Chinese ports since July delayed shipments and tightened inventories in export markets. Claight market monitoring shows methanol costs rose by 3.79% between August 24 and August 31, providing cost-side support for acetic acid and downstream products.
Claight market monitoring shows, however, that previously idled ethyl acetate production units resumed operation in August, increasing supply and putting downward pressure on prices.
