Ethanol Price in China Dips 0.6% Monthly to USD 820.96/tonne
Chinese ethanol prices edged lower over the month even as weekly and annual comparisons stayed positive, with oversupply and weak seasonal demand weighing on the market.
Ethanol in China was priced at USD 820.96/tonne as of 2026-09-03, up 0.4% from USD 817.75/tonne on 2026-08-27. The month-on-month comparison showed a decline of 0.6% from USD 825.58/tonne on 2026-08-04, while the quarter change stood at -1.7% from USD 835.02/tonne on 2026-06-05. Year on year, the price was 5.4% higher than the USD 778.64/tonne recorded on 2025-09-03.
Over the past 52 weeks the commodity reached a high of USD 866.45/tonne on 2026-04-14 and a low of USD 736.47/tonne on 2025-11-05.
According to SCI99 on 2026-08-11, concentrated maintenance at ethanol production facilities concluded in August, leading to a rebound in supply that pressured prices downward. SCI99 also reported on 2026-08-19 that arbitrage windows from Northern China to South China remained open throughout August, exerting downward price pressure on regional markets.
Mysteel reported on 2026-09-02 that ethanol manufacturers saw DDGS inventory decrease by 18.39% by September 2 due to improved sales and destocking. Claight market monitoring shows that domestic ethanol supply faced ongoing oversupply conditions as seasonal demand remained weak despite slight consumption improvements.
