China egg prices eased over the past week but remain 69.0% higher than a year ago at USD 1,530/tonne.

Egg prices in China stood at USD 1,530/tonne as of 2026-09-03, down 5.0% from USD 1,610/tonne on 2026-08-27. The price is 2.5% below the USD 1,570/tonne recorded on 2026-06-05, though it has gained 12.3% over the month from USD 1,362/tonne on 2026-08-04. Year on year, the market is up 69.0% from USD 905.45/tonne on 2025-09-03.

The 52-week high stands at USD 1,625/tonne, reached on 2026-08-26, and the 52-week low at USD 823.53/tonne on 2025-10-14.

According to Mysteel, Mid-Autumn Festival stockpiling by food processors and schools increased demand beginning in August 2026. Claight market monitoring shows that high summer temperatures reduced national hen laying rates from 95 percent to 89 percent in August 2026. Mysteel also reported that national layer hen inventory at the end of July 2026 was down 0.77 percent year-on-year.

Mysteel data showed industry-wide inventory levels remaining at year-to-date lows as of August 17, 2026. According to The Asia Business Daily, major retailers including Sam's Club and Hema Fresh raised prices in late August 2026 due to inventory shortages.
