Diesel Price in China Rises 7.9% to USD 1,286/tonne

Diesel prices in China rose to USD 1,286/tonne as of 2026-09-03, an increase of 7.9% from USD 1,192/tonne on 2026-08-27. The latest quote is the 52-week high, recorded on the same day. The 52-week low stands at USD 821.16/tonne, set on 2026-02-24.

The upward movement extends across longer periods. The price is up 18.7% over the month, from USD 1,083/tonne on 2026-08-04. Over the quarter it has gained 19.4%, from USD 1,077/tonne on 2026-06-05. On a yearly basis the increase is 39.8%, from USD 919.47/tonne on 2025-09-03.

Domestic pricing has moved in step with the market. According to Claight market monitoring, the retail price of No. 0 diesel rose by 360 RMB per tonne on 2026-08-28, following an increase of 655 RMB per tonne on 2026-07-31.

Supply-side factors have also featured. Kpler reported that Beijing allowed nearly 3 million tonnes of additional clean product exports in August 2026. Oilchem data show diesel stocks declined by 253 metric tonnes between late April and end-July 2026.
