Claight market monitoring shows that drought conditions in Xinjiang between August 3 and August 6 caused extreme temperatures, fueling market concerns over reduced cotton yields and driving up domestic cotton prices. Claight market monitoring also shows that the China Cotton Reserve Management Co. sold 8,034.856 tonnes of reserve cotton on August 26, with an average transaction price of 17,449.50 RMB/ton, reflecting consistent state-led supply adjustments.
On the supply side, Claight market monitoring shows finished goods inventory at cotton yarn enterprises rose to 30.93 days as of August 13, reflecting pressure from the traditional textile off-season. Yangxi reports that spinning mills began normalising inventories to approximately 30 days as of August 31, allowing manufacturers to maintain firm price quotes rather than discounting spot inventory.
