Cotton Price in India Steady at USD 2,055/tonne

Indian cotton holds its weekly level after a monthly gain of 3.4%, with acreage losses and state support prices shaping supply conditions.

Cotton in India was quoted at USD 2,055/tonne as of 2026-09-04, unchanged from USD 2,055/tonne on 2026-08-28. Over the month the price rose 3.4% from USD 1,988/tonne on 2026-08-05. The 52-week high stands at USD 2,078/tonne, set on 2026-09-01, and the 52-week low at USD 1,812/tonne, recorded on 2026-06-12.

Several developments from Indian sources frame the market. The Commodity Board reported on 2026-09-01 that Cotton Corporation of India increased its selling price by approximately 2.11 USD per candy in response to firm demand. The Commodity Board also reported on the same date that cotton acreage in Northern India fell by over 18 percent compared to the previous year, as farmers shifted to paddy.

The HinduBusinessLine reported on 2026-08-10 that Cotton Corporation of India raised prices by 700 INR per candy due to depleting stocks.
