Cotton Price in India Falls 7.5% to USD 1,911/tonne

Cotton prices in India stood at USD 1,911/tonne as of 2026-09-30. The price fell 3.0% over the week, from USD 1,969/tonne on 2026-09-23, and declined 7.5% over the month, from USD 2,065/tonne on 2026-08-31. Over the quarter, prices were up 2.3%, from USD 1,867/tonne on 2026-07-02.
The 52-week high was USD 2,078/tonne on 2026-09-01, and the 52-week low was USD 1,812/tonne on 2026-06-12.
According to The HinduBusinessLine, the Cotton Corporation of India reduced auction prices by ₹1,600 per candy on September 18, 2026, in response to easing global prices. The HinduBusinessLine also reported that the Cotton Corporation of India reduced auction prices by approximately ₹1,200 per candy over the two days preceding September 29, 2026.
On the policy side, the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service reported that India's government exempted raw cotton imports from all customs duties and associated cess from June 1, 2026, through October 31, 2026.
