Cotton Lint Price in China Rises 0.5% to USD 2,717/tonne
Cotton lint in China held near its 52-week high as reserve auctions cleared fully and textile operating rates climbed, according to Claight market monitoring.
Cotton lint prices in China reached USD 2,717/tonne as of 2026-09-03, an increase of 0.5% from USD 2,704/tonne on 2026-08-27. The monthly change stands at 5.4%, up from USD 2,578/tonne on 2026-08-04, while the quarter change is 3.4%, from USD 2,629/tonne on 2026-06-05. Year on year, the price is 25.6% higher than the USD 2,164/tonne recorded on 2025-09-03. The 52-week high is USD 2,741/tonne on 2026-09-02 and the 52-week low is USD 2,060/tonne on 2025-10-16.
Supply conditions have tightened. The China Cotton Association reported on 2026-08-26 that persistent high temperatures and drought in Xinjiang reduced expected per-mu cotton yields for the 2026/27 season.
Demand-side indicators point the other way. Claight market monitoring shows that the China State Reserve Cotton Management Co., Ltd. achieved a 100% clearance rate in weekly auctions held from 2026-07-20 to 2026-08-28. Claight market monitoring also shows that textile enterprise operating rates reached 68.7% in late August, an increase of 2.8 percentage points compared with the previous year.
