Corrugated Paper Price in China Falls 1.3% to USD 458.21/tonne

Weekly and monthly declines in corrugated paper contrast with a quarterly gain of 6.9% as mill supply rises in China.

Corrugated paper in China was quoted at USD 458.21/tonne as of 2026-09-04, down 1.3% from USD 464.37/tonne on 2026-08-28 and down 1.4% from USD 464.89/tonne on 2026-08-05. The quarterly change stands at +6.9%, from USD 428.78/tonne on 2026-06-05, while the price is up 19.7% year on year from USD 382.87/tonne on 2025-09-04. The 52-week high is USD 475.31/tonne on 2026-07-23 and the low is USD 382.87/tonne on 2025-09-04.

Claight market monitoring shows that leading paper mills implemented coordinated price hikes on July 13 to tighten supply and support market pricing. Typhoon and rainfall disruptions in early-to-mid July constrained wastepaper collection and forced mills to raise purchase prices.

Supply conditions then shifted. According to Claight market monitoring, production lines that had suspended operations for maintenance restarted in early August, increasing total finished paper supply. SCI reports that downstream paper inventory days fell by 14.96% in July, while mill inventories surged 59.76% by the end of the month.

Major manufacturers including Nine Dragons, Shanying, and Lee & Man issued new price increase notices in August to guide market expectations, according to Claight market monitoring.
