Color coated sheet prices in China reached USD 976.03/tonne on 2026-09-04, a 52-week high, with gains across weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual comparisons.
The price of color coated sheet in China stood at USD 976.03/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 0.9% from USD 967.14/tonne on 2026-08-28. This level matches the 52-week high for the commodity. The monthly change was +2.1%, from USD 955.56/tonne on 2026-08-05, while the quarterly change was +1.6%, from USD 960.74/tonne on 2026-06-05. Year on year, the price has risen 4.5% from USD 933.61/tonne on 2025-09-04. The 52-week low was USD 898.41/tonne on 2025-12-08.
Cost-side support came from coke markets in August. According to Claight market monitoring, four rounds of coke price hikes increased production costs and supported color coated sheet price floors in August.
Demand-side conditions were weaker over the same period. Claight market monitoring shows that high temperatures and seasonal rainfall suppressed outdoor construction demand throughout August. On the supply side, domestic steel mills maintained high operating rates and supply remained ample throughout August, again according to Claight market monitoring.
Trade policy elsewhere in the region also shifted. Japan imposed provisional anti-dumping duties of 29.2% to 55.3% on Chinese hot-dipped galvanized products starting August 8, as reported by Promisteel on 2026-08-18.
