Color Coated Board Price in China Up 0.1% to USD 976.01/tonne
The China color coated board price edged higher in the week to 2026-09-07, holding near its 52-week high as domestic supply data pointed to lower inventories.
The color coated board price in China stood at USD 976.01/tonne as of 2026-09-07, up 0.1% from USD 974.74/tonne on 2026-08-31. Over the month the price rose 2.1% from USD 955.89/tonne on 2026-08-07, and it is up 1.7% over the quarter from USD 959.90/tonne on 2026-06-09. Year on year the price has gained 4.5% from USD 934.02/tonne on 2025-09-05. The current level sits just below the 52-week high of USD 976.03/tonne recorded on 2026-09-04, and well above the 52-week low of USD 898.41/tonne set on 2025-12-08.
Supply-side data from China point to tighter conditions. The China Iron and Steel Association reported on September 7, 2026 that CISA mills' daily crude steel output decreased by 4.0 percent in late August, pulling down aggregate finished steel stocks. Promisteel reported on August 18, 2026 that total inventories of the five major steel products in China fell by 246,300 tonnes during the third week of August.
Price direction has been consistent with these moves. The Ministry of Commerce reported on September 4, 2026 that average finished steel prices in China edged up slightly during the period of August 24-30, 2026.
On the producer side, Baosteel raised its domestic futures selling prices for color coating sheets by 50 yuan per metric ton for August 2026 deliveries, as announced by the company on July 10, 2026.
