Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Price in China Slips 0.1% to USD 565.29/tonne

Cold rolled steel sheet in China was quoted at USD 565.29/tonne as of 2026-10-01, down 0.1% from USD 566.10/tonne on 2026-09-24 and down 0.3% from USD 566.77/tonne on 2026-09-01. Over the quarter the price has risen 1.8% from USD 555.56/tonne on 2026-07-03, and it stands 0.6% higher than the USD 562.18/tonne recorded on 2025-10-01.

According to Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), coke price hikes were implemented in five rounds during September, lifting the cost floor for steel production. SMM also reported that railway construction news at the China-Mongolia border in mid-September raised expectations of increased coal supply, weakening coking coal prices.

On the demand side, Mysteel reported that automotive production data for August showed a year-on-year decline, weakening demand expectations for cold rolled steel. Langes Steel reported that steel mill profitability fell below 10 percent in September, leading to increased maintenance and production halts.

SteelRadar reported that national social inventories of cold rolled coil increased by 33,100 metric tons as of September 17, indicating slow destocking. The 52-week high stands at USD 575.03/tonne, set on 2026-05-22, and the 52-week low at USD 540.31/tonne, set on 2026-03-09.
