Coke Price in China Climbs 11.7% to USD 316.65/tonne

Met coke prices in China have risen across four rounds of producer hikes since late August, pushing the commodity to a 52-week high.

Coke in China was quoted at USD 316.65/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 11.7% from USD 283.45/tonne on 2026-08-28. The price has gained 11.9% over the month and 19.8% over the quarter, and stands 55.1% higher than a year earlier. The quote is the 52-week high, against a 52-week low of USD 196.67/tonne on 2025-09-26.

Claight market monitoring shows that a first round of price hikes of 50-55 RMB/t was initiated by producers in Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, and Inner Mongolia on 2026-08-20. A second round of 100-110 RMB/t was confirmed by major steel mills in Tangshan and Xingtai on 2026-08-26.

According to Mysteel, China's coke output fell 1.6% month-on-month in July due to production cuts in major hubs like Shanxi. Mysteel also reported that a third round of met coke price hikes took effect across the Chinese market on 2026-09-01, and that a fourth round emerged amid tight supply and firm coking coal costs.
