Cloves Price in India Rises 3.2% to USD 10,321/tonne

Indian clove prices reached USD 10,321/tonne on 2026-09-01, a 52-week high, amid supply pressure in origin countries and rising import costs.

Cloves in India were quoted at USD 10,321/tonne as of 2026-09-01, up 3.2% from USD 10,002/tonne on 2026-08-01. This is both the weekly and the monthly change, as the two periods share the same comparison point. The price is up 2.0% on the quarter from USD 10,119/tonne on 2026-06-01 and up 21.9% on the year from USD 8,468/tonne on 2025-09-01. The latest quote is the 52-week high, set on 2026-09-01, against a 52-week low of USD 7,210/tonne on 2025-12-01.

Supply conditions in origin countries have moved against buyers. According to Igrain on 2026-08-26, adverse weather caused a 30 to 40 percent drop in Madagascar's clove production, and the same source reported that Madagascar clove prices rose to 7,800 to 7,900 USD per tonne from 7,400 to 7,500 USD per tonne. CMB News reported on 2026-08-31 that Indonesia's drought-prone Maluku region faced peak El Nino conditions stressing clove trees.

On the import side, Igrain reported on 2026-08-26 that rising container freight costs made Indian clove imports more expensive. Demand in India has also firmed: CMB News reported on 2026-08-21 that Indian wholesale demand increased due to the approaching festival calendar.
