Caustic Soda Price in China Dips 0.3% to USD 94.80/tonne
Caustic soda prices in China slipped week on week while remaining above the 52-week low set in February.
Caustic soda prices in China stood at USD 94.80/tonne as of 3 September 2026, down 0.3% from USD 95.08/tonne a week earlier. The monthly change was -0.1%, from USD 94.91/tonne on 4 August 2026.
Over the quarter the price rose 3.5%, from USD 91.64/tonne on 5 June 2026. Year on year the price fell 23.9%, from USD 124.55/tonne on 3 September 2025. The 52-week high was USD 124.97/tonne on 9 September 2025 and the 52-week low was USD 89.60/tonne on 4 February 2026.
On the supply side, the China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association reported on 4 July 2026 that North China chlor-alkali operating rates dropped to 65% due to heat-related power curbs and environmental inspections.
On the demand side, Shanghai Metals Market reported on 3 September 2026 that Shanxi alumina factories increased their caustic soda purchase price by 70 yuan/ton for September compared to August.
