Caustic Soda Price in China Slips 0.4% to USD 95.03/tonne
Caustic soda in China edged lower on the week while remaining close to its recent range, with the year-on-year decline at 18.9%.
Caustic soda in China was quoted at USD 95.03/tonne as of 2026-09-29, down 0.4% from USD 95.37/tonne on 2026-09-22. The month-on-month change was a decline of 0.1% from USD 95.08/tonne on 2026-08-28. Over the quarter the price has fallen 3.2%, from USD 98.17/tonne on 2026-07-01, and year on year it is down 18.9% from USD 117.11/tonne on 2025-09-29.
The 52-week high stands at USD 119.12/tonne, recorded on 2025-10-21, and the 52-week low at USD 89.60/tonne on 2026-02-04.
Supply-side developments have been reported. Mysteel data shows China's chlor-alkali production losses decreased to 898,000 tonnes in September from 1.022 million tonnes in August. ChemAnalyst reported that Gansu Juhua commissioned a new ion-exchange membrane caustic soda production line on September 1, 2026.
On the demand side, Shanghai Metals Market reported that mainstream alumina factories in Shanxi maintained caustic soda purchase prices for October at the same level as September.
