Caprolactam in China was quoted at USD 1,993/tonne as of 2026-09-03, a weekly rise of 1.3% from USD 1,967/tonne on 2026-08-27. The price is up 12.0% over the month from USD 1,779/tonne on 2026-08-04 and 16.7% over the quarter from USD 1,707/tonne on 2026-06-05. The year-on-year change stands at 59.6% from USD 1,248/tonne on 2025-09-03. The current quote is the 52-week high; the low was USD 1,168/tonne on 2025-11-05.
According to CCFGroup on 2026-07-29, Luxi, Shenma, and Lubao plants initiated maintenance shutdowns in early July, removing 400kt/year of capacity. The same report noted that crude oil prices exceeded $90/bbl in July amid US-Iran tensions, driving up feedstock costs.
CCFGroup also reported that benzene prices spiked to 8,450 yuan/mt in July, driven by critically low port and social inventories.
Reuters reported on 2026-08-30 that Brent crude settled at $89.70 per barrel on August 27, sustaining high upstream cost pressure.
