Bromine Price in China Slips 1.3% to USD 5,566/tonne
The weekly decline follows a month of gains as supply conditions in China shifted between tight inventories and increased import availability.
Bromine in China was priced at USD 5,566/tonne as of 2026-09-03, down 1.3% from USD 5,640/tonne a week earlier. Over the month the price is up 4.4% from USD 5,331/tonne on 2026-08-04, and over the quarter it is up 3.2% from USD 5,395/tonne on 2026-06-05. On a year-on-year basis the price is 35.3% higher than the USD 4,114/tonne recorded on 2025-09-03.
The 52-week range spans from USD 3,908/tonne on 2025-10-14 to USD 10,237/tonne on 2026-04-07.
According to YINSU Flame Retardant, persistent rainfall in production areas restricted industry operating rates throughout August and kept supply tight. The same source reported that prices fell by 1,750 yuan per metric ton during the week of August 21 to 27 as stockholders lowered prices to accelerate inventory turnover. YINSU Flame Retardant also noted that imports of 7,297 metric tons in July created supply flexibility that exerted downward pressure on domestic prices.
ChemNet reported that prices rose to 39,520 yuan/ton by August 17, driven by low inventories and rigid downstream procurement. The most recent weekly movement points to easing pressure from stockholders' sales of inventory.
