Benzene Price in China Rises 9.3% to USD 1,304/tonne
The benzene price in China reached USD 1,304/tonne on 2026-09-04, up 9.3% on the week and 56.0% over the year.
Benzene in China was quoted at USD 1,304/tonne as of 2026-09-04, an increase of 9.3% from USD 1,193/tonne on 2026-08-28. Over the month the price has risen 17.1% from USD 1,114/tonne on 2026-08-05, and over the quarter it is up 15.8% from USD 1,126/tonne on 2026-06-05. Compared with USD 835.86/tonne on 2025-09-04, the price is 56.0% higher year on year. The 52-week high stands at USD 1,735/tonne on 2026-03-09 and the 52-week low at USD 724.64/tonne on 2025-10-30.
According to OPIS, concentrated refinery and petrochemical turnarounds removed 529,000 mt of benzene production capacity in July. OPIS also reported that benzene inventories in East China fell to an average of 76,800 mt in July, a 41% decrease from June.
Gate News reported that imported benzene shipments arrived at East China ports on August 25, leading to a decline in domestic spot prices. The price has since moved to USD 1,304/tonne on 2026-09-04.
