ABS Price in China Rises 2.8% to USD 1,688/tonne

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene in China was priced at USD 1,688/tonne as of 2026-09-30, a weekly rise of 2.8% from USD 1,642/tonne on 2026-09-23. Over the month the price gained 8.2% from USD 1,560/tonne on 2026-08-31, and over the quarter it rose 32.5% from USD 1,274/tonne on 2026-07-02. The price is 22.0% higher than the USD 1,384/tonne recorded on 2025-09-30.
The quarterly climb reflects cost pressure upstream. China Plastics Online reported that styrene prices surged past 10,000 yuan per tonne in early September due to geopolitical risks in the Strait of Hormuz. China Chemical Industry News reported that butadiene prices rose by nearly 2,000 yuan since late August because of limited spot supply and geopolitical cost sentiment.
Supply tightened as well. According to Mysteel, major producers cut output in mid-September to mitigate losses, reducing average operating rates to 54.46%.
Producers have passed costs on downstream. China Chemical Industry News reported that acrylonitrile butadiene styrene producers raised sales prices by up to 400 yuan per tonne on September 11 following upstream cost increases. The 52-week high stands at USD 2,058/tonne on 2026-03-09 and the 52-week low at USD 1,165/tonne on 2025-12-26.
