Acetone Price in China Rises 3.6% to USD 1,129/tonne

Chinese acetone prices climbed for another week, with the commodity up 23.6% over the past month as supply losses and rising feedstock costs supported the market.

Acetone in China was priced at USD 1,129/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 3.6% from USD 1,090/tonne on 2026-08-28. The month change stands at +23.6%, from USD 912.97/tonne on 2026-08-05, while the quarter change is +14.8% from USD 982.91/tonne on 2026-06-05. On a yearly basis, the price is up 80.2% from USD 626.22/tonne on 2025-09-04. The 52-week high of USD 1,218/tonne was recorded on 2026-04-07 and the 52-week low of USD 574.24/tonne on 2025-12-05.

Supply conditions have tightened. Mysteel reported that Wanhua and Formosa shut 1.41 million t/y of phenol/acetone capacity on August 10, 2026, in a development reported on 2026-08-12. Claight market monitoring shows that domestic phenol-ketone plants underwent concentrated maintenance in July 2026, causing a loss of 85,900 tonnes of output.

According to Claight market monitoring, upstream benzene and propylene prices rose throughout July and August 2026, increasing manufacturing costs for Chinese producers.
