Acetone Price in China Slips 2.9% to USD 1,268/tonne

Acetone in China was quoted at USD 1,268/tonne as of 2026-10-01, down 2.9% from USD 1,305/tonne on 2026-09-24. The monthly move is up 19.4% from USD 1,062/tonne on 2026-09-01, the quarter is up 90.5% from USD 665.42/tonne on 2026-07-03, and the year is up 104.8% from USD 619.18/tonne on 2025-10-01. The 52-week high stands at USD 1,401/tonne on 2026-09-11 and the 52-week low at USD 574.24/tonne on 2025-12-05.

According to Mysteel, two major phenol/acetone units in East China were shut down on 10 August 2026, including Wanhua's planned 45-day turnaround and Formosa's unexpected shutdown, tightening local acetone supply. Mysteel also reported that concentrated maintenance in phenol-ketone plants in July 2026 cut production, with maintenance losses estimated at 85,900 tonnes, keeping port commercial inventories low and tightening spot liquidity.

CN ChemShop (SKYSEVEN Chemical Technical Team) reported that from 7 to 14 August 2026 a typhoon disrupted logistics and import flow, with reduced arrival of imported ships keeping port inventories tight. The same source reported that China's East China acetone benchmark rose sharply from 4 to 11 September, with Brent crude pushing above $100/barrel due to Middle East geopolitics and import supply continuing to shrink, supporting higher acetone costs and tighter availability.
