Lead on the Indian market was quoted at USD 2,170/tonne as of 2026-09-04, a weekly gain of 2.1% from USD 2,125/tonne on 2026-08-28. The month change stands at +0.9%, against USD 2,150/tonne on 2026-08-05. Over the quarter the price is down 1.2% from USD 2,197/tonne on 2026-06-05, while the year change is +3.2% from USD 2,104/tonne on 2025-09-04.

The 52-week high for the commodity is USD 2,236/tonne, recorded on 2026-05-22. The 52-week low is USD 2,039/tonne, reached on 2025-12-15.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd reduced its benchmark lead price by Rs 700 per tonne on August 20, according to Wedoany on 2026-08-22. Shanghai Metals Market reported on 2026-08-01 that disruptions in the Hormuz Strait have weakened stable scrap lead supply and increased pressure on Indian smelters.

On 2026-09-04, TaxGuru reported that the CESTAT ruled that imported lead-bearing material must be classified as lead waste or scrap, impacting trade compliance. The ruling affects how lead-bearing material entering the country is categorised for customs purposes.
